  • 英文自傳範例︰ 法律與人權 Law with Human Rights

法律與人權英文自傳  Law with Human Rights Personal Statement Example米德佳提供翻譯服務,英文自傳,英文履歷表,英文求職文件,學術論文修改及文件編修等服務。Growing up in a developing African country of Malawi, human rights was not something i had heard of, especially for the poor and the underprivileged. I often saw and heard of injustices being inflicted upon the poor and the underprivileged, yet no one seemed to do anything about it. I would often ask my father why the privileged violated the underprivileged and they were not held accountable for their actions. He did not have a lot to say about the topic because he did not know a lot about human rights himself. I remember a lot of instances that the public would talk of how a person, or a family had been violated, and a few days later, everybody would seem to forget about it. I never forgot because the injustices troubled me.One of the instances I remember very well is when I was seventeen year’s old. I was at my older sister’s house for the holidays. One afternoon, my sister’s former neighbor’s gardener’s wife came to her house crying, her five year old son had been killed by an over speeding car. It was being driven by one of the wealthy men in the city. She sobbingly told us how the man had unsympathetically told her and her husband that they would never win a case against him if they took him to court. He said he would get the best lawyer, while they could not afford one. I stood in total disbelief. I was hurt and angry. I was amazed at how someone could take a young child’s life and have no sympathy on the parents. The poor mother’s hurt, loss, and helplessness in her eyes was unbearable. I knew she did not stand a chance of winning the case. I wished i was a part of a nonprofit organization of lawyers that would have helped her regardless of her financial status. I was very frustrated to see how easily someone could get away with a crime.Around 1999, human rights groups started forming in Malawi. A lot started to change, underprivileged civilians started to get help. My passion to defend them was stirred up. In 2002, I came to the United States of America. My stay here has broadened my horizons on how western countries are active in human rights. I have realized that although a lot of African countries are now active in human rights, they still have a lot to learn from the western world. For example, although, the underprivileged in African countries are being defended, most of them do not know that they have a constitution that is supposed to protect them. They usually find out about their rights after they have been victimized. Some of the courses i have studied at Houston Community College include Psychology and Sociology. These have greatly improved my understanding and interaction with people of different social and cultural backgrounds. In addition, volunteering at Depelchin Children’s Center, a home for abused and orphaned children, has stirred my desire to educate others on human rights. I have been encouraged by children at the home as young as six years old at the way they understand their rights. This is something I had never seen or heard of in a lot of African countries. Also my work experience at Rise n Shine in Houston, a diverse city, has increased my communication skills with people from different backgrounds, and has helped my leadership skills. I have become more articulate, more able to resolve conflicts and answer questions about filing taxes to avoid any legal issues, and be to maximize our customers tax returns. My plan is to pursue a degree in law and then continue to a masters in human rights. Since most African countries have a British education system, the knowledge i will acquire from obtaining these degrees will be very instrumental in starting an organization that will defend the rights of the underprivileged in African nations and also in educating them their rights regardless of their age and economic status.

法律與政治英文自傳 Law and Politics Personal Statement Example米德佳提供翻譯服務,英文自傳,英文履歷表,英文求職文件,學術論文修改及文件編修等服務。In today’s climate, an understanding of law is critical. The question of Scotland’s independence and its legal repercussions; the European Treaty’s effect on British law; the legitimacy of the war on terror and its effect on civil rights. There seems, to me, no more exciting a time to be studying law.My background in law dates back to before I was born. My grandfather was a Sheriff Principal, my uncle, a former president of the Law Society, is a Sheriff, and my mother qualified as a solicitor. For my part, when I nearly had to testify as a witness in a criminal trial for theft, I became intrigued by the various rules and proceedings that make up a court case. For some time I wanted to become an RAF pilot and so most of my fifth year Highers were in science based subjects. To balance this, I have taken up Higher Modern Studies this year, in order to give myself a better understanding of the background and framework of law. My interest in politics began whilst helping my father’s elections to the local council, and learning more about political parties and how the government affects our lives has caused my enthusiasm for politics to grow. This year I am setting up work experience in Perth and Kinross Council Legal Department and work shadowing with a law firm. This experience will deepen my understanding of different aspects of law as well as providing me with valuable experience of office practice, and of how the legal system works, which I am sure will prove helpful with my studies in law. I am currently applying for part-time work in a supermarket, which will give me further experience of how different businesses operate and of dealing with the public and colleagues. For the last two years I have served as the student representative for my class on the School Pupil Council, and was this year made Vice Captain of my house. This responsibility has taught me more about working with people and about management, as well as developing organisational and financial skills such as managing a budget, which will be especially valuable in University life. As Vice Captain I’ve taken part in fundraising activities for the school and various charities we support. My experiences as head of the team that represented my school in the “Our World Our Responsibility" Speechmaking competition to raise awareness of the dangers of climate change, and designing and conducting Sunday services with our church youth group, have given me practice in presentation and communication skills.During my three years in the Air Training Corps, I completed my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, and a Leadership for Life course. I gained experience of working both independently and in a group, which will both be useful while studying, which will require me to work by myself and with others. In my spare time, I play wargames and debate online, where I often play the devil’s advocate, arguing an opposite view to my own both for enjoyment and to improve my debating skills. I enjoy travelling and in particular active holidays, having been on several trips with my school to the windsurfing and sailing centre on the island of Cumbrae. In October, I spent two weeks in Greece waterskiing, sailing and windsurfing, and I look forward to going to Italy with the school this summer. As well as water sports, I often take part in inter-house sports competitions. The phrase “It’s not whether you win or lose" may be a cliche, but it’s something I genuinely believe in. I’m also a yellow belt in Shotokan Karate, which is something I may continue within the University’s Karate club.
To summarise, I feel that my experiences up until now, both in-school and extra-curricular, have prepared me well to study law and politics, and ultimately to achieve my long-tem goal of becoming a solicitor, possibly specialising in court work, or an advocate.

法律與法文英文自傳  Law with French Personal Statement Example米德佳提供翻譯服務,英文自傳,英文履歷表,英文求職文件,學術論文修改及文件編修等服務。It is always challenging, attempting to remain impartial and attentive to detail in a murder trial over a relative. My ability to do so was tested greatly during the trial over the killing of my cousin, Christopher Alaneme. He was stabbed to death in April 2006 by men who were said to be intoxicated with cocaine, and therefore claimed not to have intended to murder him. Such a trial succeeded in consolidating my strong inclination towards Law and justice; not only from the obvious vested interest I have in the case, but from the incredible necessity to consider every single detail involved. The study of French is a huge part of my life and fortunately, a very exciting part too. I love to read Le Monde every day and feel my understanding of French affairs and vocabulary grow. I wish to study Law because it encompasses a wholly enthralling subject that is embedded within every aspect of any social infrastructure, with French, a passion of mine that has intensified the more I have explored it over the years. My studies during my A level course have enabled me to better develop my perceptions and skills towards legal studies and French culture. Critical Thinking has taught me how to be more analytical and furthered my ability to formulate and structure arguments; whilst the study of French has enabled me to communicate more fluently in French and increased my knowledge of French customs. In studying History, I have learnt how to extract key information while improving my communication skills through intensive debates. Maths was highly enjoyable and allowed me to become apt in problem solving and following complex reasoning. My enthusiasm for Law was first induced by the emotional and practical experiences I gained through avid debating as the Captain of my school debate team. In winning the vast majority of debates held against other schools, I was chosen to debate in the House of Commons against MP Dianne Abbott, where my team won. My desire to study Law was enhanced by the sheer exhilaration I felt in having to articulate my views into captivating my audience, while gaining the technical debating points. Attending a Law workshop with UCL allowed me to speak to Law and French undergraduates and participate in a mock trial, giving me a realistic approach to life as a Law student. The completion of work experience with Linklaters gave me the opportunity to speak to high-ranking solicitors, which drove me to Law studies. Furthermore, during a school visit to KPMG offices, I engaged in conversation with a founding partner of KPMG Forensic department. As a result he contacted my school praising my ‘confidence and direct questioning’ and offered me a position within his division. As I return there every summer, I relish the challenge of speaking French with others, building rapport with useful contacts and working in teams on different Projects, which augment my teamwork abilities. I am a part-time librarian and frequently have to encounter the public and speak French and some Spanish to those who can only speak these languages. My time in the Sixth Form has been spent as a Year 9 form mentor, a Sixth Form prefect and member of the Student Council, which has meant discussing strategies and mediating between the students and teachers. I committed myself to spending a year tutoring a GCSE maths student; although this was a huge test of my ability to speak, explain and teach clearly, it was incredibly rewarding as the student progressed from a U grade to a B grade, and I gained a good friend. I am a Senior Member of our Justice and Peace organisation, assuming prominent roles of responsibility and problem solving and helping to raise over £1000 for an African school. I am a passionate member of my Sixth Form Gospel Choir and have always enjoyed singing, reading in mass and performing.I look forward to applying what I have gained and contributing my personality to university life, studying Law with French.

Over the duration of the course I became deeply interested in the way crime and disorder influence the society we live in. In particular, the ways in which the upbringing of young people so greatly influences their future prospects.During my last two years at secondary school I was selected to participate in the Mark Scott Leadership for Life award. The Mark Scott Foundation was set up after the death of Mark in 1997 in a sectarian attack. The week long course is based at Outward Bound Scotland’s centre at Loch Eil and is followed by a three, one day long community events organised and funded by the participants including myself.
The award entailed working with people from other schools who I had never met before of the best part of a year, I felt it was important to try and create a relaxed working environment and establish good communications. By giving up some of my spare time to embark on this extra curriculum program I feel this shows I am an individual who ceases any new opportunities given to me. Since completing this award, I applied for and was successful in becoming the Outward Bound’s new gap student. One of my duties as the gap student is to compose, edit and publish their bi-monthly newsletter which has the added personal benefit of enhancing my IT and language skills. As an assistant outdoor instructor for Outward Bound Metro and being a responsible and mature individual I took it upon myself to gain what I felt to be vital life experience working with young people in more deprived areas of Glasgow, prior to hopefully beginning a course in Criminology at university. It was while working with these young people that I began to appreciate how several different factors including alcohol, drugs, poverty and the lack of proper education could damage their chances of being successful in life.I have a great passion for outdoor activities and enjoy an exciting and healthy lifestyle. This has been enhanced during my time with Outward Bound and I feel that I have been extremely fortunate that I have been given the opportunity to assist in such a personally challenging and rewarding gap year.Through the experiences described I have broadened my perspectives and have become more aware that there is undiscovered potential within young adults such as those who were not able or did not have the support to be able to remove themselves from their unfortunate backgrounds. My gap year experience has only reinforced my wish to study Criminology as a means to develop a far greater understanding of these underlying issues and their social implications, with the ultimate aim of being able to work with offenders and maximise their potential. As for where I wish this degree to take me as a career I have not yet chosen. Keeping my options open for the time being will allow me to explore the different niches that this degree would open up to me. However I strongly believe that the personal qualities I possess and my enthusiasm and interest in law will lead me into a career where I can thrive on new challenges and use my knowledge of the criminal justice system to empower individuals.

社會與犯罪學英文自傳  Sociology and Criminology Personal Statement Example米德佳提供翻譯服務,英文自傳,英文履歷表,英文求職文件,學術論文修改及文件編修等服務。From a young age, I have been fascinated by law and was thrilled at the possibility of studying it at A-Level. In August 2007, I was able to spend two weeks working at Neves Solicitors in Luton. Most of my time was spent in the Conveyancing department, where Andrew Orriss, a partner in the firm, taught me how to draw up commercial leases and business contracts, and about buying, selling and renting residential properties. I most enjoyed meeting clients and discussing their cases. I found that moving house many times as a child enabled me to be sympathetic and relate to the clients. My time at Neves has made me more intent on pursuing a career in the law, as I liked the work and fitted in well with the staff.I believe my current studies of Law, English Language and History complement each other well and would give me an advantage at university, as they have furthered my strong reading and writing abilities, and taught me to be more logical and investigative. I also took Religious Studies at AS-level as I like learning about other peoples’ beliefs, and it helped me to become more open-minded.I enjoy getting involved with activities in my Sixth Form, such as planning the Summer Ball in Year 12. I was chosen by our Deputy Head Girl to take the minutes for the meetings and email them to the other committee members, and my minutes were commended by my Head of Year. I was also asked to assist with the Sixth Form Induction Evening. My duties involved welcoming prospective students and their parents, handing out prospectuses, and talking to them about my own experiences of Sixth Form. In Year 13, I was chosen as a History subject mentor to help struggling Year 12 students, and I also helped out on a trip to Germany with students in years 7 to 9.Outside of school, my hobbies include photography, bass guitar, and writing. In 2006, I came second in a BBC writing competition for young people in Northamptonshire. Having grown up in France, I am bilingual, and my next challenge is to write a short story in French. I also have a part-time job at McDonald’s, which has taught me about working with others, as well as coping with pressure. One of the crucial parts of my job is ensuring that customers are satisfied, and occasionally dealing with complaints. I believe the people skills I have gained from McDonald’s will help me in other aspects of my life.I regularly attend my local church and Christian youth group. In July 2007, I had the opportunity to go to Kosovo for a fortnight with other members of the youth group. Our aim was to help widows and orphans affected by the Yugoslav Civil War and the ethnic cleansing of Kosovans in 1999. We redecorated homes and schools, ran children’s clubs, distributed aid, and visited a Roma gypsy camp. It was a very profound and moving experience, and one I hope to repeat at some point in the future. This is the reason for my deferred entry to university. I plan to spend a few months fundraising, and then return to Kosovo for the remainder of the year to continue the work we started there.I believe that I am a confident and enthusiastic person who would benefit greatly from studying at university. I am passionate about the law and would like to have a career as a lawyer. I also have a keen sense of justice and an interest in Sociology and Criminology and would consider working with the Prison Service or the CPS. I think that studying Law at university would help me make the best possible use of my analytical and writing skills, and that a career in Law would satisfy my need to help others.

法律與德文英文自傳  Law and German Personal Statement Example米德佳提供翻譯服務,英文自傳,英文履歷表,英文求職文件,學術論文修改及文件編修等服務。My interest in Law stemmed from personal experiences in different foreign countries, especially with three years spent living in the Middle East. Living in foreign countries opened my eyes to different political and judicial systems within different countries of the world. Through work experience in an accountancy firm, I learnt about legalisation relating to accountancy, increasing my desire to learn law and practice law as a career. I am interested to learn how international disputes or investigations are settled where countries have different laws, for example: the recent story of missing Madeleine McCann and the conflict between the UK law and the Portuguese law.At GSCE and A level I have become an A/A* student in English Language and English Literature, developing my skills of logical argument, persuasion and analysis. During year 10 I was recommended by teachers to independently do an Open University course in Start Writing Fiction, in which I achieved a Pass, whilst taking my AS exams at the same time. In year 12 my teachers nominated me for Rainham Mark Grammar School gifted and talented register for English and they chose me to do an ESB (English Speaking Board) exam, in which I attained a Good Pass, thus developing my speaking and presentation skills.Travelling to and living in different countries has fuelled my love for languages, meeting many people from different cultures and backgrounds. In primary school I learnt basic French then when I moved to Saudi Arabia I started French lessons, rapidly progressing to one of the top in my year. In addition I took after school Arabic lessons and learnt many everyday phrases applicable to daily life in both Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. When I moved back to the UK I started learning German and within two years I was in express languages. I did my German GCSE in one year and received an A, and did my French GCSE within the following year and again achieved an A. I decided to continue my study of German through to A-level because I thoroughly enjoy German and I am fascinated by the structure and grammar of the language. As part of my A-level German studies I have learnt about some German politics, providing an insight to the different legislation of another EU country. When I go to university I would like to take part in internal and external mooting competitions amongst other universities, as I am quite competitive and to develop and practice debating skills. I would like to take part in different sports and societies especially swimming at competitive level as I would love to continue my passion and talent in this sport. I would like to join a dance club or set one up in order to help those who dont have the confidence to dance. In the last few years particularly, I have become more and more involved with charity work. In 2005 I took part in a ‘Ten Bridge’ sponsored walk in London, raising £75 for Gingerbread, a charity for single parents. Recently, in May 2007 I swam 100 lengths (2.5km) non-stop and raised £160 for Medway Asthma Self-Help Group. I also like to know the money is being put to good use. For Gingerbread the money was used to organise days out for the single parents and their children such as going to the Pinocchio pantomime at the local theatre.I am an extremely hard-working and motivated person both academically in my studies as well as out-of-school in sports and in my job as a waitress. I often question theories in Maths and Economics as I am keen to not only learn the theories but to also understand them and question how they operate. I always try my best through life and use two mottos to help me get through even when I feel I don’t understand; ‘Be the best you can be’ and ‘If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again’. I believe I can apply these qualities to the study of Law at university, which can then lead me to my goal of becoming a barrister.

法律英文自傳範例  Law Personal Statement Example米德佳提供翻譯服務,英文自傳,英文履歷表,英文求職文件,學術論文修改及文件編修等服務。The spectre of global terrorism is prevalent. Fundamental civil liberties are under threat, not only by those who seek to destroy our society, but also by those who have been charged with the task of safeguarding it. We are possibly entering a period of momentous constitutional change and legislative upheaval. Therefore, it seems to me that the 21st century looks set to be both an exciting and crucial time in which to embark upon legal study. My desire to study Law stems from a growing fascination with World events, as well as with the minutiae of our day-to-day existence. As Helena Kennedy QC states ‘The Law is the bedrock of a nation; it tells us who we are, what we value, who has power, and who hasn’t. Almost nothing has more impact on our lives,’ (‘Just Law’, 2004): this, I believe, defines the importance of Law. I am stimulated by present-day ethical considerations which may impact upon the legal framework of this country: Everyday Law (Aviva Golden, 2000), for example, stipulates that marital union may take place only between two, consenting adults of the opposite sex; yet, when marriage harbours civil as well as religious implications, is it right to discriminate? How is it possible for one to reliably arbitrate the point at which abortion should be deemed illegal? Both are among issues which I find to be perplexing and fascinating in equal measure. I am interested also in the fundamental components of legal practise; the exposition of complex drafts (such as marriage or business contracts), being something which I feel would be facilitated by a firm and comprehensive grasp of the English language. I would say, in addition, that I am a confident and articulate public speaker – exemplified by my participation in the 2004 House debating team – and one who regularly takes pleasure in assuming the role of ‘Devil’s Advocate’ for the purpose of arguing controversial points of view, irrespective of personal bias.My work experience with the Crown Prosecution Service in Gloucester really fired and reinforced my enthusiasm for a career in Law. I had the opportunity to shadow administrators, solicitors and office clerks, observing critical procedures at every level: from case-work and preparation, all the way through to the excitement of litigation in the Crown Courts. This enabled me to lay to rest any sensationalised preconceptions (such as those arising from TV dramatisations) in favour of a more rounded insight into the legal field; backed up, of course, with Brian Heap’s ‘The Way In’, and Philip Kenny’s ‘Studying Law’ – both of which have provided valuable insights. It has also invested me with some notion of what to expect from the very wide range of career opportunities currently available within the legal domain. With respect to my extra-curricular life, I work as a sales assistant for Maltby Books in Cheltenham. I am also the recent recipient of a Millennium Volunteers Award of Excellence for having contributed 200 hours to my local community – to whit, the Pate’s School Library, and Cheltenham Children’s Theatre Association. As regards the latter, I am currently director, secretary and Committee member of three years’ standing, in addition to having acted lead roles in several Summer productions. I also played the part of Richard Greatham in a recent Pate’s 6th form production of Noël Coward’s ‘Hay Fever’. All these activities have demanded a significant degree of sustained commitment, integrity and competence; in addition, they have afforded me the opportunity to develop administrative skills, computer literacy, and the ability to communicate ideas to people under a variety of circumstances. I would say that I have acquired valuable skills and experience as a result of these ventures; qualities which I hope would contribute significantly to a promising career studying Law at university.

Academically, I have always been a very determined and studious individual, hence why I knew that a degree at University would be the definite next step. I have a broad interest in many subject areas yet feel drawn towards a law or business orientated degree. With regards to Business, the reasoning behind my choice is the complex and intriguing nature of the subject. I particularly enjoy the way business so appropriately blends in with everyday issues. Since taking the subject at A-Level my interest has grown and matured and I am able to view many businesses analytically and make suggestions regarding possible improvements. Law is an area which has interested me from an early age. I enjoy extensive reading and recognise that this is essential in studying law. I consider myself to be well suited to a career in law as I pay much attention to detail and take pleasure in undergoing work which raises social issues in today’s society and requires the skill to manipulate evidence and present persuasive arguments. I also believe that the Psychology A-Level I have has aided me in observing the actions of others and how their opinions and memories are influenced by external factors. This area of work requires much confidence which I believe I posses and can use to my advantage in order to gain recognition in this competitive field of work.
My work experience is very broad due to a variety of positions I have held in differentiating working environments. My experience working for Royal Worchester & Spode in the Debenhams’ department store has been the most influential. The up-market company requires a confidant disposition from a Sales Advisor such as myself and a proficient memory in order to ensure product knowledge is to an optimum standard. I was also given the responsibility to train a new employee which displays the high degree of trust my employers have for me.
My educational experiences have been of great use to me from a position of form captain in Secondary School to aiding the organisation of mass celebrations in College. Responsibilities such as these have helped me to mature and take my positions seriously so that I am respected by staff. My position of English Prefect in Year 11 required a large portion of my time as I was in charge of aiding the entire English department. My interest in the Italian language has also led me to have an article I wrote regarding the exploitation of women on Italian Television published in ‘L’Italiano’ newspaper, to which I was very content to have my views expressed.
During Secondary School I also attended evening Italian classes where I was presented with ‘The Student of the Year Award’ due to my excellent standard of work. The class required me to organise my time efficiently so that other schoolwork did not suffer as a result of my extra GCSE. As a result of these classes and of my Italian parents I now speak the language fluently.
Sport and leisure also interests me and during college I decided to use this interest to do charity work for RNIB where I raised £250 and abseiled 120ft down Westminster University. I played Netball for the Harrow Netball Team and competed in the OGI UK Games for the Harrow and Wembley team where I was awarded several trophies and a gold and bronze medal for long jump and javelin.

This instilled in me two things: my doomed childhood ambition to be a Spitfire pilot, long since grudgingly abandoned, but also, perhaps ironically, a love for the sound and feel of the German language that has stayed with me all through the intervening decade. So taken was I with its beauty and precision that mastering it immediately became, even then, a personal Grail. I began at once, spending my last years of primary school acquiring an accent and basic grammar, along with what motley fragments of vocabulary I could pick up and retain.

It was in my final year there that I had my second affirmative exposure to German, when an outreach team from the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment gave us a series of intensive workshops on Bach’s ‘St John Passion’. Here I discovered Luther’s Chorales, effectively the first pieces of German literature that I read and, after some effort, understood. These were a great help in expanding my vocabulary, though for a while I was a little stuck in any conversation that did not involve the Crucifixion.
However, as my learning accelerated I began to read enthusiastically, what I could manage in German alone and more advanced material in translation. I was lucky to have an inspiring and dedicated teacher who encouraged me particularly to read Kant and Goethe; I loved the neatness of Kant’s arguments in ‘Was Ist Aufklaerung?’, and am currently reading Faust Part I. Naturally this is challenging, but the text is rewarding my perseverance by its depth, its probing questions and its humour. I am also keenly interested in the music and philosophy of the Austro-German late Romantics, especially Wagner, whose music I think sublime, even if his drama fails to convince. This is truest of ‘Parsifal’, whose noxious cocktail of inchoate personal theology and disturbing racial undertones appals, but is set to some of the most gorgeous music imaginable. Simultaneous beauty and ugliness make Wagner’s art unfailingly compelling, but seldom comfortably so. I studied Wagner at A level, along with Boell’s bleak ‘Die Verlorene Ehre der Katharina Blum’, completing the course in one year after GCSE and preparing for the written exams independently. In the year since then I have continued to read and am eager to pursue the active discovery of German and Germany as far as I am able.
Latin I came to rather later on, studying it for the first time at secondary school. Initially I found the process interesting but somewhat dry; after a while I grew frustrated with Caecilius, and though I studied some Virgil at GCSE, this could not be treated in enough depth for me to grasp what made it great poetry. At A level, however, I was taught scansion and an understanding of rhythm, and looked in greater detail at the devices used by the Classical writers; this made my set texts come alive for me. I particularly enjoyed reading Ovid, whose wit and wickedness delighted me, Cicero, whom I admired for his rhetoric and guile, and above all Virgil; Book Four of the Aeneid moved me immensely by its virtuosic imagery, sustained pathos and inevitable tragedy. Thus awakened to the rich rewards to be reaped from Latin literature, I determined to continue my learning in this subject to a higher level, in order to be able to read more, in greater depth and with ever deeper understanding.

I am spending my gap year as a professional Organ Scholar at [a boarding school], which requires me to perform for over 800 people five times a week, and I am also a boarding house tutor in Year 7, in which role I am part of a team of pastoral and academic mentors for 31 resident children. This is proving an eye-opening experience both in terms of performance pressure and insight into the pleasures and frustrations of the professional side of education, and gives me an excellent opportunity to continue my reading in a focused academic environment.

英文自傳  French and Arabic Personal Statement Example米德佳提供翻譯服務,英文自傳,英文履歷表,英文求職文件,學術論文修改及文件編修等服務。In studying French and Arabic, I am eager to compare two mutually influential languages and cultures, particularly their overlapping history and its cultural representations. I decided to defer my entry to retake my Maths A2 and plan to turn this to my advantage by working and living in France, putting what I’ve already learnt of the French language and culture into practice. Following a visit to the Alhambra Palace, the beauty of which captivated me, I read Hoag’s ‘Western Islamic Architecture’. This in turn has led me to make plans to stay in Fez, Morocco, to gain first-hand experience of the Arabic world. Voltaire’s ‘Candide’ prompted me to read some of his ‘Lettres philosophiques’. I was particularly interested in his satire and opinions on religion, especially with regards to fanaticism. Learning about the ‘conte voltarien’ and ‘Nouvelle Vague’, which I researched when studying Truffaut’s ‘Jules et Jim’, has developed my interest cultural movements and their socio-political context, which highlighted the importance of understanding contextual influences of works. This, I have realised, is the best way to understand the Francophone films and literature, and other art, which I regularly enjoy watching and reading. Researching Francophone colonisation for my English Literature A2, for which I gained full marks, led me to consider studying Arabic. I have begun to study the alphabet with Brustad, Al-Tonsi and Al-Batal’s ‘Alif Baa’ and have been struck by how elements of similar sounds correspond visually to features of the individual letters. I have also revised grammatical terms with Crystal’s ‘Rediscover Grammar’ so I am familiar with the terminology used when learning a language. English Literature A Level also introduced me to the concept of comparing cultures and literatures; I now intend to apply this to French and Arabic. I find analysing poetry rewarding and am keen to examine older French verse, having looked at some Ronsard and Marot, and ancient Arabic poetry, including the ‘qasida’. I am intrigued by the cultural desire to preserve the Arabic and French languages, in contrast with the perpetual mutation of English and the relative indifference of its speakers, which is one aspect of national identity I want to explore through further study. In my wider reading, Al-Khalili’s ‘The House of Wisdom’ discussed the still-relevant religious regulation of Islamic life, which furthered my interest in studying Islam. I’m especially fascinated by religious fundamentalism and have read extracts from the Qur’an to attempt to find the foundations of claims made by extremists. This has emphasised the need to fully understand the original wording in order to draw my own conclusions. I am also keenly interested in the Islamic world’s politics and their geo-political implications. In my spare time I sing with the chapel choir of St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, and other local choirs. I sing to Grade VIII standard, play the recorder (which I’ve taught privately), violin and viola to Grade VI standard and have won numerous prizes in vocal and instrumental classes in the Bedfordshire Music Festival. I volunteer for Gamlingay Records, where I am heavily involved in project management, publicity and performance, and have worked as a shop and administration assistant for ‘The Music Room, Sandy’, where I also repaired instruments. I also have studied dance and obtained brown belt in karate, so would therefore be excited to actively contribute to music and sport at university. Since being able to ask for hot chocolate on my own in Versailles cafés, I’ve known that learning languages was something that I’ve wanted to do, but only learning a language is not in itself an end; it is a means to be used to gain a deeper understanding of a culture and its identity. It is only through such insight that many of the current misunderstandings and tensions between citizens of different religious and ethnic backgrounds may be resolved.
