abdication (ab" duh KAY shuhn) (noun)
A formal resignation and renunciation of powers; such as, a high office, a throne, or an authority; a resignation: “The abdication by the king was expected and desired by the citizens of the country."
addiction (uh DIK shuhn) (noun)
A devotion to or an abnormally strong craving and dependence on something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming; such as, caffeine, nicotine, and, especially, alcohol or narcotic drugs: “Our friend, Madeline, was still trying to recover from her drug addiction; as well as, her addiction to nicotine via smoking."

名詞子句主要功用是當主詞、受詞及補語，引導名詞子句的連接詞為that及wh之疑問詞。關於名詞子句的重要細節如下：
1. 名詞子句當主詞時，動詞要用單數。例：1. That honesty is the best policy is true.2. What happened to him during those years has puzzled us.
2. that 所引導的名詞子句若當動詞之受詞，則 that 可以省略。

1. 介系詞之結構特性：介係詞後面接名詞片語，受格代名詞或動名詞，這些都是用來做介系詞之受詞。例：1. Many people in Taiwan are dissatisfied(不滿意)with their living conditions.(名詞片語當with之受詞)2. My sister is good at playing the piano.(名詞片語當at之受詞)3. I will go out with her.(代名詞當with之受詞)結構思考：介系詞+_____
2. 介系詞之功用：介系詞片語可以當形容詞，亦可作副詞。

1. 功用：形容詞的功用是修飾名詞或當名詞的補語。例：1. It is an important book about American history. (修飾book)2. Food is necessary for our life. (當主詞補語)3. The story made me sad. (當受詞me的補語)
2. 位置：形容詞常見的位置如下：(a)adj+ N：形容用來修飾名詞通常應擺在名詞之前。

代名詞的格可分為主格、受格、所有格及所有格代名詞。主格的功用是當主詞，包括 I, we, you, he, she, it, they；受格是當動詞或介系詞的受詞。包括me, us, you, him, her, it, them；所有格當形容詞功用，後面接名詞，包括my, our, your, his, her, its, their；所有格代名詞等於所有格+名詞，包括mine, ours, his, hers, theirs.例：1. Nobody except him can solve our problem. (him當介系詞except之受詞)2. Tom took an apple to school；he ate it at lunch time. (it當動詞ate之受詞)3. Mary and Bob have their books；in other words, Mary has hers, and Bob has his.
反身代名詞包括 myself, ourselves, yourself, yourselves, himself, herself, itself, themselves等，其要點如下：
1. 反身代名詞可以用來當加強語氣，加強主詞本身。

助動詞助動詞是要幫助動詞表達不同的語氣，在結構上助動詞後面應接原形動詞。以下即精要地介紹關於助詞常考的重點：
1. 一般性的助動詞：a) shall與will表達“將要”(shall通常用於第一人稱I, we，而will則可用於任何人稱)；b)can表達“能夠”，“可能”，“可以”，c)may表達“也許”，“可以”；d)must表達“必頇”、“一定”。例：1. My father could speak three languages. (能夠)2. You have been working all day；you must be tired. (一定)3. Mike might not be in the living room. (也許)4. When she returns, she will telephone me. (將會)

基本的句型英文文法說穿了，就是五大句型，然後結合時態和完成被動語態。若這幾個都搞懂了，英文文法就幾乎都沒問題了。單一句子的基本句型：S. = Subject  主詞
V. = Verb  動詞
O. = Object  受詞
C. = Complement  補語

Grab a notebook and write in English every night before you go to sleep and/or every morning when you wake up about whatever you have on your mind. Keep a journal to write in.You can write about your dreams first thing in the morning. You can write about your goals, or you can write about what you did that day.It doesn’t matter what you write in English, just that you’re making a habit of writing every day.This will probably be hard at first. You might even feel awkward, or not be sure about what to write. This is normal, and it will quickly become easier and easier.
